A 318ti. It's small and compact, rear wheel drive, and available in manual. Now, to only find one in the 1000 dollar price range. If this fails, I'll look for a foxbody.

Did you get them as the 323ti as well? Straight six > four banger.

So you can transform it into that ?

Not to mention that the 318i was slow as F%¤k.. Buddy of mine had a 318Is.. we replaced the engine with a higly tuned 2.0 Cossie engine from a Sierra. THAT was fun :)

Put the M5's V10 in it. Put the M5's V10 in it. Put the M5's V10 in it!

So, put 3 M5 v10's in it? Sounds like a plan. I like it. Maybe I can get Matt Farah to drive it on Tuned :D

Good luck on finding a $1000 Fox that's not shredded.
Unless you're thinking of something that doesn't rhyme with Mustang.

I was looking for an 87-93 foxbody. Just wondering, are the LX's all 5.0s? or are the LX's also with the 4 cyl?

I think you could get an LX 2.3 but even full base Fox Stangs seem to have disappeared.
I'm in the "Rust Belt" though. Other parts of the Country may be where to look.
Keep an eye on the Torque boxes where the lower rear control arm mounts. They take a lot of abuse.

I've driven a 318ti they're nothing special and I doubt you can find anything decent for a grand plus fot a rwd car a slightly longer wheelbase is better IMO. I'd recommend a 325es e30 instead. Slap an IS head on that thing and turbo to when you can afford it. You'll have a fun car in your price range instead of that slow ugly pos 318. Just my $.02

V30 FTW!
